Using Selfie Search: From Your First Results to Finding More Photos
Face selection, confident results and possible matches, confirming yourself, and additional selfies. Learn the steps for finding your event photos and what to do when they do not appear.
If you have received an event link and there are too many photos to browse, start with a selfie that clearly shows your face. PikFind compares that face with photos from the event to find images you appear in.
After the first search, you can review results and use the features for looking further from another angle. This guide explains the steps a first-time participant can follow on the screen.
Use a clear photo of your face for the first search
Open selfie search on the event page and use a photo with a clear view of your face. If the photo includes several people, select the face you want to search for. A clear face helps more than an image where a hat or shadow obscures much of it.
Results may be limited if event photos are still being uploaded or search preparation is incomplete. No search results do not immediately mean that no photos were taken. Check the event information and readiness status first.
Distinguish identified matches from photos that need checking
Results separately show photos identified as matches for you and possible matches that need review. A possible match might show someone who looks similar, or a photo taken in difficult lighting. Open the photo and check whether it really is you.
If it is you, confirm with “That’s me.” This is separate from selecting a photo: it identifies a face for additional searches. Confirming another person as yourself can also make later results incorrect.
Adding another selfie keeps your existing results
After searching with a front-facing selfie, you can add a side view or a selfie taken under different lighting. Additional results are combined with existing ones, letting you look further without losing the photos you already found.
This does not guarantee finding photos with obscured faces or faces that appear small in a distant shot. If the event permits browsing all photos, use capture time and folders as well. Full browsing is restricted in face-search-only events.
Check how to manage your photos after searching
You can receive the photos you find through the event’s save and download options. Photos kept in your account and photos downloaded to your device are stored in different places, so also save photos you want to keep for a long time on your own device.
Search selfies are discarded after processing, and searches are limited to the event. If you want a photo removed, use the request feature in the photo view. It is also helpful to check the event’s sharing and retention conditions.
