Why not another ranking

Six questions to ask any of them
- 1How does a guest prove which photos are theirs?
Three answers exist. A shared folder makes them scroll. A bib number works only while the number is readable. A face works when the face is visible. Tools differ mostly on which of these they support — and whether they support more than one.
- 2What happens to the selfie after the search?
Ask for this in writing, not in marketing copy. PikFind deletes the selfie and its face data the moment the search ends; face data for an event is deleted with the event when its storage period expires.
- 3Who pays — the organizer or the guest?
Some race-photo services are free for the organizer and sell prints or originals to the runner. Others charge the organizer and give guests everything. Neither is wrong, but it changes who is annoyed at the end. On PikFind the organizer pays for uploaded photos and guests download free.
- 4What happens above 20,000 photos?

A tool that returns everything vaguely similar looks impressive and destroys trust — one stranger in the results and guests stop believing the rest. PikFind shows only matches above a confidence threshold and lets the guest deselect before saving.
Which kind of event you are running
A race with bib numbers
Ask specifically about bib recognition. Most event-photo tools are built for weddings and match faces only, so photos where the runner turned away are found — but photos where the bib is visible and the face is not are missed, and vice versa. PikFind runs both on the same event.
A multi-day festival, thousands of photos, sponsors
The deciding factors stop being matching and become storage length, multi-photographer upload, per-sponsor exposure numbers, and what happens when you exceed the plan. Ask about those four.
Guests from several countries
Check that the guest screen follows the browser language rather than the organizer’s. A guest who lands on a screen they cannot read gives up at the first step.
The one thing we do differently
Bib-number search and face search are usually sold as alternatives. They fail in opposite situations: a bib is unreadable when a runner covers it or turns away, and a face is unusable from behind or in a crowd shot taken from fifty metres out.
PikFind runs both on the same event. A runner types a number; the photos where the number was hidden are still found by face. Partially readable numbers are matched on the fragment. The cost is preparation time — analysing every photo twice takes roughly twice as long, so start uploading earlier.
